Terms of Use

These terms apply to use of Danbury Residents Directory. Accessing or using the reference means the terms are accepted. Anyone who does not agree should stop using the pages and their linked search tools.

1. What This Website Is

Danbury Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public rolls, record indexes, and historical directory collections relating to Danbury, Connecticut. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with the City of Danbury, Fairfield County, any Connecticut agency, court, library, or records custodian.

2. Rules for Lawful Use

Use the pages and anything reached through them only for lawful purposes. Prohibited uses include:

  • Stalking, harassing, intimidating, threatening, or harming a person
  • Locating a person protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Identity theft, fraud, impersonation, or another unlawful act
  • Making a credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or other FCRA-regulated decision
  • Scraping, copying, or republishing the content at scale
  • Interfering with the operation, security, or availability of the service

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency

Danbury Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency as that term is defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Information on the pages, and information returned by a linked search service, is not a consumer report. It must not be used to judge eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. Outside Links and Services

Danbury and Connecticut portals, libraries, archives, and sponsored search providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Danbury Residents Directory does not control their content, availability, prices, results, or handling of information supplied by a visitor.

5. No Warranties

The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made that a page, fact, link, office detail, coverage date, portal, or search result is accurate, complete, current, secure, or continuously available.

6. Limits on Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of the reference or a linked resource. This includes a decision made from a record or search result reached through the pages.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim, demand, loss, or expense, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that results from misuse of the pages or violation of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. A visitor may link to a page and quote a short passage with attribution. Full-page republication or systematic copying is not permitted without written permission.

9. Changes to the Terms

A revised version may be posted at any time. Continuing to use the pages after a revision is posted means the revised terms are accepted.

10. Restricting Access

Access may be blocked or limited, with or without notice, when a user violates these terms, abuses a search feature, or interferes with the service or its security.

11. Connecticut Law

These terms are governed by Connecticut law, without applying its conflict-of-law rules. Connecticut public-record access is addressed by the Freedom of Information Act, CGS Chapter 14, including §§1-200, 1-210, and 1-212. Connecticut consumer-data privacy is addressed by Public Act 22-15, codified in CGS Chapter 743dd, §§42-515 and following. Those statutes govern the public custodians and covered businesses to which they apply; they do not turn this private reference into a records custodian.

12. Severability

If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect to the extent the law permits.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page. Questions about a public record belong with the Town Clerk, Assessor, Registrar, court, Library, Museum, or state custodian that holds it.
